Applying Eye Liner

Eyeliner is used to give shape to the eyes and define them as required. It is one of the most important accessories for makeup that is used used to give proper shape and size to your eyes. Eye lining is done with a black or brown eye liner on the top lid of each eye and sometimes under the lower lashes.  Eyeliner is used after eye shadow and before mascara. It adds the dramatic touch to your face and at it can also be used to give a light feel to your face. If you have light colored eyes then we suggest you to go for brown, navy and charcoal eye liners. Darker shades like brown and plum will look good with dark brown and black eyes. There are two types of eye liners - eye pencil and liquid eye liner. You will need a pencil sharpner so that you can draw a fine line, but always make sure that you round off end of eyeliner to avoid hurting the delicate skin around the eye. A liquid eye-liner will give a more clearly defined effect. You can experiment applying eyeliner with various colours, but black is most useful basic eyeliner to have and suits most people. Traditional asian eyeliners may contain lead and should not be used.

Best tips on applying eyeliner

• Use an eyeliner that has a mechanical, twist-up-pencil type tip. I find that these are the easiest to apply .
• Applying eyeliner half way along the bottom lash line makes your eyes look rounder and more defined. Don't worry too much about a straight neat line simply smudge the line with a cotton bud or your finger so it's soft and natural looking.
• Keep your eye slightly open. Tilt your head back and look at the mirror with both eyes open. That allows you to get very close to your eyelash line.
• When you have finished lining, lightly smudge (blend) the line you just drew. It will make the line smooth so that it doesn't look like a distinct line.
• High quality powder eyeshadows can be used wet for heavier application by dampening your applicator a littel.
• Tilting your head back with your eyes slightly open will bring the eyes in the perfect shape.
• Soften your work done by the pencil or liquid eyeliner using cotton flab and facial powder.
