Applying Blush

Once you have experimented with blusher you will realize that it plays an essential part in applying makeup. With the help of an accurately applied blush you can refresh your face, make it looking much better and healthier. Blusher adds color and depth to the skin and can give our cheeks, forehead and nose a healthy, dazzling look. Broaden a pointed chin with blush at the tip and highlighter just above it on either side. An oval face needs only gentle application of blush. A round face that tends to plumness can be made to look thin by applying the jaw line. To reduce the width of nose, apply blush on the tip and sides. A square face can be softended by applying blush from the jawline to the cheeks and again on the temples. Blush in the form of a gel should be applied on top of your moisturiser - Do not add powder or you will spoil the gel's shine. Cream blusher is applied over moisturiser or foundation and followed by powder. Gels and creams can be dotted on to the face and blended with the finger tips, powders dusted on gently with a flat brush. To find out what colour blusher will suit you best, pinch your cheeks and copy the shade of your natural blush. For a highlighter, choose pale peach or ivory for fair skin. The positioning of blusher and highlighter is vital in make-up application. For a heart shaped face, highlight the cheek bones. The blush goes on under the cheek bones sweeping up towards the top of the ear.

How to Apply Blush - Tips

  • A little shimmer on the highest point of cheekbone near eyes lends you an instant sexy look.
  • Cream blush can be blotted off using a tissue while applying translucent powder can dilute powder blush. However, gel and liquid blush have to be washed from face and the makeup has to be redone.
  • Clean your brushes with baby wipes. If you don't keep your brushes clean, they'll gather bacteria and transfer it to your skin.
  • For a natural look, blend it well down your cheeks.
  • Consider the type of blush best suited to your skin type. Cream blush works very well for drier skin, as it can help to keep skin hydrated. Powder blush is better suited to oily skin.
  • Apply color in the middle of the face. Don't get close on the nose.
  • For skin look clearer: Apply blusher to the apple of your cheeks. Blend it back but don't go further than the corner of the eye.
  • Remember that the lighter your skin tone, the lighter your blush color should be.
